Telugu Win Home Game, Pune Thrash Mumbai

What an exciting start to the Vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 5, two magnificent games and the best teams were victorious. First Telugu Titans beat Tamil Thalaivas by a margin of 4 points while Puneri Paltan dominated U Mumbai with biggest margin victory of 12 points. Both team winning their first game now are on the top of league table in their respective group.

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar sang the Indian National Anthem before the start of the match. Many Sports, Bollywood, Telugu, Tamil celebrities were present to support their teams in the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad. It was almost a full house with most fans supporting home team Telugu Titans and kids mostly supporting one of the tournaments most loved team U Mumba.

The first game was really a tough fight between Telugu Titans and Tamil Thalaivas. Titans have always shown confidence in Rahul Chaudhary, the top raider of Pro Kabaddi League and he lived upto to their expectation today. Both the half were dominated by Telugu Titans but Tamil Thalaivas did very well to make a come back in the second half and the lead margin was lower down to just 5 points. The final score after the end of second half was 32 – 27. Rahul Chaudhary scored his 25th Super 10 of Pro Kabaddi League and Vishal Bharadwaj scored 5 raid points for Titans.

The second game was a pure dominance by Puneri Paltan. It was the Maharashtra derby today and U Mumba’s weakest side was exposed in this game. Puneri Paltan had better defense which was very important against the top raiding side. Sandeep Narwal, Dharmaraj Cherlathan and Girish Ernak showed rock solid performance in defense. It was only the Anup Kumar who was scoring for his team in raid and defense. Failure of top raiders like Shabeer Bappu, Kashiling Adake and inexperienced defense was the main reason behind U Mumba’s fall.

Puneri Paltan won the game by 12 points margin and final score after the full time was 21 – 33. Anup kumar despite being a raider showed an All round performance today scoring 8 points – 3 in tackle, 3 in bonus and 2 in touch, while Sandeep Narwal was the top scorer for the Puneri Paltan scoring 6 points – 4 tackle and 2 touch points.
