We have come up with a team which we feel will do quite well for the 1st Game Week. We are also going to discuss some of the players to watch out for during the week. You can use the following tips to also play individual fantasy leagues during the game on PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”).

GK: Alisson [6 mil]

Without a doubt, Alisson Becker will be the most selected goal-keeper this season. With the Golden Glove Award last season and easily the best fullbacks and the best centre-backs in front of him, this is surely going to be another dominating season for Liverpool’s goalkeeper and overall defense.

Defenders:

  • Robertson [7 mil],
  • Wan-Bissaka [5.5 mil],
  • Digne [6 mil],
  • Laporte [6.5 mil]

Robertson scored the highest points for a defender and 4th highest overall points last season. With clean-sheets and assists in abundance, he’s my first choice in defense.

Wan-Bissaka was the standout bargain in defense last season. With a move to Manchester United and with better forwards/midfielders in front of him, he has a good chance to score some more points this time. With Harry Maguire and De Gea, United can nick some extra clean sheets as well.

Digne scored some sensational goals and had a great run into the Everton team in the 2nd half of the season. He is a threat from free kicks and his delivery is spot on. Everton look an exciting team this season, pick him up early. Laporte is the only Manchester City defender who’s guaranteed of a start! With 6 goals and assists, 18 clean sheets he was the 4th highest point scorer amongst the defenders. City do keep a lot of clean sheets so this guy will be handy.

Midfielders

  • Salah [12.5 mil],
  • Sigurdsson [8mil],
  • Milivojevic [7 mil],
  • Pereyra [6 mil],
  • Maddison [7 mil].

Can anyone really ignore the Egyptian King, Mohamed Salah? Top goal scorer for 2 successive seasons and also in FPL points! Nothing much to say here, 54 goals and 24 assists in his last 2 seasons. However, good players usually mean very expensive in the fantasy league, so make sure you budget well if you want Salah!

Sigurdsson is always a threat in the opposition half and is known for his goal scoring and play-making. With penalty and free-kick duties he usually gets into double figures for goals+assists. Milivojevic has 10+ goals in his last two seasons as he’s the penalty taker for Palace and with Zaha in the squad, Palace do get quite a few penalties. At 7 million he’s quite the bargain type.

Maddison was the standout performer last season as he made his transition from the second tier of English Football to the top tier. He performed as if he belonged to the top stage. Known for his trademark free-kicks and dead ball delivery, he has a great eye for the goal. Leicester have made some smart and quality signings and along with a young attack minded manager in Brendan Rodgers, Leicester look very strong.

Pereyra burst onto the scene early last season with some stunning individual displays. He’s the type of player you rotate in your squad based upon the fixtures. You do need to keep him for home games against smaller teams.

Forward – Wilson [8 mil]

Callum Wilson had a breakthrough last season. With a hand in 26 goals [14 Goal +12 Assists] he was very popular as the budget striker along with another striker which I will discuss later. With two consecutive games against newly promoted sides, Wilson looks like a safe bet for your PlayerzPot (Use Code “READ1234”) fantasy team.

Fancy a bet?

Substitutes:

  • Ryan [4.5 mil] – made some great saves, scored more bonus points than Alisson last season.
  • Doherty [6 mil] – standout performer last season, will be rotated based on fixtures.
  • Long [5 mil] – back-up striker selected to afford the expensive defenders and midfielders.
  • Nketiah [4.5 mil] – scored quite a few goals in pre-season, might be used as a substitute often.

Players to watch out for:

  • Pickford [GKP, 5.5 mil] – 3rd highest points for GK last season.
  • Chilwell [DEF, 5.5 mil] – Leicester attacking style will suit him.
  • Perez [MID, 6.5 mil] – Another Leicester attacking prospect, will groom well over the season.

That’s it for today, stay tuned for weekly updates and some tips and pointers for each of the Game-Week!
