Wembley Curse Continues For Spurs, Manchester Clubs Win, Gunners Earn a Point at The Bridge and All Results From Week 5

Here’s a roundup of all the action from EPL game week 5.

Bournemouth ended their 4 game losing streak with a comeback win against Brighton. Defoe scored the winning goal which was his first since joining Bournemouth.

Crystal Palace became the first PL side to open the season with 5 defeats and no goals scored. Roy Hodgson beginning his life as the Palace coach with a defeat. Southampton won by courtesy of Steven Davis who scored the only goal of the match.

A rampant Manchester City with Aguero scoring a hat trick crushed Watford 6-0 who were absolutely poor on the day. Jesus, Otamendi & Sterling completed the rout to send Pep’s men to the top of the PL.

Newcastle claimed a narrow victory over Stoke with both teams missing chances. Ritchie showed his class providing assists for both the goals.

Even a school team coach would tell you that Liverpool needed quality signing in defense and with their high pressing style and no organization at the back, they are truly exposed. Another frustrating result for them where they drew 1-1 against Burnley. Klopp should be a worried man, Liverpool were seen as title contenders although there’s a long way to go in the season.

Huddersfield drew 1-1 with Leicester. Both goals came in the 2nd half with Vardy equalizing for Leicester from the penalty spot.

West Brom played a boring goalless draw against West Ham with neither of the teams creating any decent goal scoring opportunities. Obiang’s long range effort from the halfway line struck the crossbar.

Wembley curse continues..

Another day at Wembley for Spurs, another disappointing result. A goalless draw against Swansea summed up their day as they lacked the finishing quality in the final third. Pochettino needs to fix their Wembley blues if they are to mount a serious title challenge.

Chelsea-Arsenal draw

The battle for London ended in a goalless draw with both sides missing clear chances in the 1st half. Arsenal put in a disciplined performance to earn a point and end their 5 match losing streak at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were reduced to 10 man in the 87th minute when David Luiz got a clear red for a reckless challenge on Kolasinac, although it was too late for Arsenal to make use of the numerical advantage. This was Chelsea’s 3rd red card in 5 PL matches so far.

United share top spot with City

And for the last match at Old Trafford, Manchester United won by 4-0 against Everton, their 3rd win with the same scoreline in 5 PL matches. With Manchester City winning 6-0 on Saturday and going top of the PL, the pressure was on Mourinho’s men and they did respond emphatically. The goals came from Valencia which was a stunner followed by second half strikes from Mkhitaryan, Lukaku(Thats against his former club) & Martial from the penalty spot. Both the Manchester clubs are level on 13 points with the same number of goals scored and conceded(16 & 2), they are early pace setters as of now.

The weekend saw 5 draws, 3 narrow wins and 2 grand victories.
